We were delighted with the number of members who joined us on Monday evening. Many thanks go to
John Simpson, our new President, who so enthusiastically embraced his role. He spoke openly of his interest in and affection for Chelsea going back several generations. Damian Greenish, Chairman, gave a full report of the year’s activity and looked forward to the challenges facing Chelsea over the coming year. Tom Martin, Honorary Treasurer, presented the financial accounts for the year to 30th June 2013, which were adopted by the meeting.
The Council members then took questions from the floor on the many and varied issues we face locally, from the impact of Crossrail 2 to the state of the library. The minutes of the evening’s proceedings will be published in the Annual Report, due out early 2014.
We were also pleased that two of our Vice-Presidents, The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Councillor Charles Williams and also Greg Hands, MP for Chelsea and Fulham, were able attend, alongside our Honorary Vice-President David Le Lay.
The evening finished with a glass of wine giving members a chance to chat informally and catch up on local affairs.
