It is with great sadness that the Council reported the death of Leonard Holdsworth.
He epitomised the true “man of Chelsea”, coming as he did from a family that is steeped in the history of the Borough. Quite simply, he adored the place. He was born here, primarily educated here, married here and lived most of his life here. He was a member of the Society’s Council for 20 years; and he never held back in expressing his heartfelt views about Chelsea. He was not one to compromise in his enjoyment of the finer things in life.
His contribution to the Society, not just through his membership of the Council but in his unflinching support of our activities and as a tireless fundraiser will be long remembered. Chelsea has lost a great champion.
His funeral was at his beloved Christ Church on Friday 29th January 2016 at 11am.
