Minis parading on the Kings Road past Peter Jones
On Saturday 17th August 2019 mini owners gathered in Chelsea to show their iconic cars to admiring crowds on the Kings Road. They included a 60th anniversary Mini which the new owner brought along just two hours after he purchased the vehicle, and a 1977 Jubilee edition.
The Chelsea Society was pleased to support this event, to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the mini, and its association with fashionable Chelsea in the 1960’s
The Mini was launched to the international press in August 1959. The revolutionary new design by Alec Issigonis soon captured the interest of style conscious celebrities and the Mini became a favourite of the young jetsetters of the Swinging Sixties who flocked to the boutiques and cafés of the trendy King’s Road.
