The Society was delighted that General Sir Nick Carter agreed to address Members and guests on Monday 20th February. Nearly 100 members attended.
The subject was “The global strategic context in an era of constant competition and conflict in the light of the war in Ukraine.”
Gen. Carter was Chief of the General Staff, (the head of the British Army) 2014-2018, and was Chief of the Defence Staff (the head of all UK armed forces) 2018 – 2021.
A vote of thanks was proposed by Sir Paul Lever KCMG, a member of the Council of the Chelsea Society, who was UK Ambassador to Germany, and Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee.
After the meeting, the General was kind enough to say “I much enjoyed the meeting and I thought the audience was really engaged. They were a pleasure to talk to.”
