Royal Hospital tour

A group of members visited the Royal Hospital Chelsea on Friday 24th July 2026 to discover the history and stories of the Royal Hospital. We explored some of the most important historic buildings in London and gained an insider’s perspective  of what life is like as part of this unique community.  The guided tour was led by a Chelsea Pensioner  The tour began at the Grade II listed Soane Stable Yard and included College Court, the original site of the Chelsea Theological College built by King James I, The Heritage Berth designed by Sir Christopher Wren where in-pensioners were first accommodated, The Great Hall where in-pensioners  have their meals, the Wren Chapel, Figure Court where the Annual Founder’s Day parade is held, and the golden statue of King Charles II.
