On 26th March 2021 this Challenger 2 tank was hoisted into position outside the National Army Museum in Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea.
Challenger 2 entered service as the British Army’s main battle tank in 1998, and saw action in Kosovo, Bosnia, and Iraq.
It is protected by composite armour and carries a 120mm rifled gun. It weighs 75 tons but its 1,200 hp engine could drive it to a maximum speed of 65kph
It was built by BAE Land Systems, and the last of 386 tanks was delivered in April 2002
