The Chelsea Society has discussed this matter with Cllr. Kemhali, who has explained that the loss of three parking spaces would be compensated by the allocation of three parking spaces nearby. He has also explained that the reason for removing those parking spaces is to provide a view of the Royal Hospital from the Kings Road and Royal Avenue, unobstructed by parked vans and cars. On this basis the Society would withdraw its objection to this scheme. We do not however favour the idea of benches on the built-out section of the pavement, and would prefer a piece of sculpture or perhaps a sundial,.
