This is a very large site (51,800 sq m) with frontage to Chelsea Bridge Road. It was sold by the Ministry of Defence and is currently owned by the Qatari Diar Real Estate Company, which was established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar.
Extensive public consultation was undertaken on the development of the overall masterplan for the site between August 2009 and the granting of outline planning permission in March 2012.
For each phase it is necessary to submit further planning applications for the detailed architectural design of the buildings within the relevant phase, and the developers intend to hold public consultations for each phase. The public consultations carried out to date on Phases 1, 2 and 3A are documented on the developers’ website.
The Planning Committee of the Chelsea Society will engage with the developers throughout this project and looks forward to future updates.
