On 15th April 2019 at Chelsea Old Town Hall, artist and architectural historian Alan Powers gave an illustrated lecture on Architecture in Chelsea from Peter Jones to the Present.
Dr Powers wrote the architecture chapter in the recent Cadogan book on The Making of a Modern Estate.
He has been chairman of The 20th Century Society and teaches at the London Architecture School.
Some of the other buildings he mentioned were Lowndes Court; the Gropius and Mendelssohn houses in Old Church St; Vernon House and Forbes House in Chelsea Square; Brunel House in Cheyne Walk; Chelsea Fire Station; Carlton Tower Hotel; Danish Embassy; Tedworth Square; Marlborough School; and George House on Sloane St.
