The automatic wc outside Sloane Square station had been out of service for far too long, and we asked the Council to get it repaired as a matter of urgency. We are pleased that it has now been repaired and is available for use! We would expect the Council to keep it in repair and remedy any problems forthwith.
However, RBKC are now consulting on removing it!
This would be a very bad idea, especially as the Council has permitted outdoor dining in Sloane Square. This is fine, but there were no wc facilities for the diners. Peter Jones (when their shop is open) cannot be expected to provide wc facilities for people who are not their customers, and there are no publicly available facilities within a reasonable walking distance. The Council’s idea that there are suitable alternative facilities at Chelsea Library, or St Lukes, is nonsense.
RBKC should not close this wc, but should install another of these units in the square itself.
