Members of the Council of the Chelsea Society attended a reception at The Cadogan Hotel on 29th January at the kind invitation of Viscount Chelsea, to celebrate the reopening of the hotel after a long programme of refurbishment. It will open to the public shortly
The hotel is on the corner of Sloane St and Pont St., and is best known for its connection with Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry. In 1895 Lillie Langtry’s townhouse became part of the Cadogan Hotel, but Lillie continued to reside in her old bedroom, which is still part of the hotel today.
The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, and is managed by the Belmond Group, who also manage The Mount Nelson in Cape Town and the Orient Express.
